CHRIST THE KING

The Feast of Christ The King is a magnificent celebration that marks the culmination of the Church's year. It is a time of great significance, and I want to take this opportunity to address our young friends directly on this Youth Sunday.
Dear Young Friends, I want to commend you for your unwavering witness to our Catholic faith. Your presence in our churches is a source of hope and inspiration for all of us. But I also want to challenge you to take your faith to the next level.
As you journey through your teenage years, you will undoubtedly face numerous challenges and temptations. The world will try to pull you away from your beliefs, questioning the very foundation of your faith. But I implore you, do not waver. Instead, let your faith be a beacon of light amidst the darkness.
Now, more than ever, we need young people like you to step up and be active in parish ministry. Your energy, enthusiasm, and fresh perspective are invaluable assets to our community. Whether it's serving at Mass, proclaiming the Word of God in our midst, or leading us in our petitions to Heaven, or being a member of our youth ministry, or getting involved in charitable initiatives at school, in the parish or in our local community. your contributions can make a real difference.
But don't stop there. I also want to encourage those of you who may be feeling a calling to priestly ministry. Our Church needs dedicated and passionate young men to answer this divine vocation. Do not dismiss the whispers of your heart. Explore this possibility, seek guidance, and discern whether God is calling you to serve Him in this sacred way.
In the midst of your busy lives, do not neglect the power of prayer. It is through prayer that we connect with God, find solace in His presence, and seek His guidance. Look to Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young man who exemplified a deep love for the Eucharist and a vibrant prayer life. Let his example inspire you to make prayer a priority in your daily routine.
Lastly, I want to emphasise the importance of the sacrament of Reconciliation. Confession is not just a ritual; it is a profound encounter with God's mercy and forgiveness. Regularly availing yourself of this sacrament will cleanse your soul, strengthen your relationship with God, and give you the strength to overcome any obstacles you may face.
Dear young friends, know that you are not alone on this journey. Our parish family stands ready to support you every step of the way. We believe in your potential, and we are here to help you grow in faith and become the leaders our Church needs.
So, as you go about your daily lives, remember the significance of this Feast of Christ The King. Let it be a reminder of your role as disciples of Jesus, called to follow Him and spread His message of love and hope to the world.
May God bless you abundantly, guide your steps, and grant you the courage to live out your Catholic faith boldly. The future of our Church rests in your hands. Embrace this responsibility, and together, let us build a stronger, more vibrant Catholic community.
Blessings to your family, blessings to your days at school or college or even university.
You are capable of great things. Believe in yourselves, trust in God, and let your light shine brightly for all to see.
God bless you all.
Canon Michael

Warm greetings to all!
I am delighted to share with you the excellent news that our parish is experiencing tremendous growth in recent months. It warms my heart to see new families joining our community, making our parish more diverse and multicultural than ever before.
We are blessed to have strong communities representing various cultures and backgrounds. Sons and daughters from the Philippines, India, Africa, Poland, Ukraine, Ireland, Europe, South America, and many more places have found their home in our parish. The richness of our diversity is truly a testament to the inclusive nature of our community.
One of the most beautiful aspects of this growth is the increasing number of baptisms. Families are choosing to bring their children into the loving embrace of our parish, and it fills me with joy to witness the faith being passed down to the next generation.
More good news: more than a dozen attend our RCIA PROGRAM seeking to become Catholics at Easter.
Our Parish and Catholic schools play a vital role in supporting these families and offering a warm welcome to all. They provide a nurturing environment where children can grow academically and spiritually.
In our pursuit of inclusivity, we strive to be a parish family where everyone feels welcome. We encourage active participation in our community, believing we can flourish through collaboration and unity. We also actively seek catechists to help us pass on the beautiful gift of faith to others. Together, we can support family and youth ministry, ensuring our younger members have a strong foundation in their spiritual lives.
As many of you are aware we are forming a new Parish Leadership Team. This team will guide our community and ensure we continue growing in faith, unity, and love. We humbly ask for Heaven's blessings as we embark on this new journey, eagerly working towards building a community that reflects the values of our faith.
As we move forward, remember the importance of prayer and devotion. Our spiritual life should always be at the forefront of our efforts—the beauty and dignity of the Holy Mass.
We are enhanced then by the beautiful gifts and talents of our parish music ministry teams and our members' choirs. Through devotion, Adoration, the recitation of the Rosary, Ministry to the Sick, and Our First Fridays Retreats, we deepen our connection with God and find solace in His presence.
Let us embrace this time of growth and change with open hearts and minds. Let us celebrate the diversity that enriches our parish and strive to create a community that radiates love, kindness, and acceptance to all who walk through our doors.
May God's blessings be upon us as we build a community of faith and unity. Together, let us forge a path towards a brighter future rooted in the love of Christ.
With warmest regards,
And my blessing,

Is Pope Francis in favour of gay marriage?

In a 2014 interview, Pope Francis unequivocally stated, "Marriage is between a man and a woman. We cannot change that. This is the nature of things." This resolute statement reaffirms his loyalty to Church teachings and underscores his unwavering stance on the sanctity of marriage.
While Pope Francis advocates for love and compassion towards all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation, he does not compromise the Church's traditional teaching on marriage. His pastoral approach emphasises the importance of welcoming and accompanying LGBTQ+ individuals within the Church community, recognising their inherent dignity and the need for understanding and support.
It is worth noting that in 2020, Pope Francis made remarks in support of civil unions for same-sex couples. However, it is crucial to understand that civil unions are distinct from marriage in the eyes of the Church. The Pope's comments were not a departure from Church teaching but rather an acknowledgment of the legal rights and protections that should be extended to all individuals, while maintaining the sacredness of marriage as defined by the Church.
In conclusion, Pope Francis remains steadfast in his loyalty to Church teachings on the sanctity of marriage as a sacred union between a man and a woman. While he promotes love and compassion for all individuals, his statements and actions consistently uphold the traditional understanding of marriage as defined by the Church. It is imperative that we approach this topic with respect and understanding, recognizing the complexity of the issue and the Pope's unwavering commitment to both doctrine and pastoral care.

Sunday Collections and Donations

Last weekend's offertory: £750.24.
Second collection - Archbishop's Appeal: £440.70. THANK YOU!
Second collection this week - Youth Sunday.
During the current situation, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the many of you who have kindly signed up to standing orders. This is so much appreciated and valued. If you wish to contribute by cheque in lieu of plate collections, this can be sent to the presbytery: St. Teresa’s Church, 250 Bishopsford Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 6BJ. They may be made payable to St. Teresa’s Catholic Church.
Our thanks to the families of Maureen Deb and Theresa Bearn for their generosity and thoughtfulness for the kind donation of £1,000 each in honour of the memory of Maureen and Theresa.
May God bless you and may their souls Rest In Peace and Rise In Glory.
Many thanks to those of you who have so kindly offered to set up standing orders in lieu of our Sunday plate collections. This is a most convenient method of planned giving (for all concerned); already used by so many at Morden – and is vitally important at this time. Regular standing orders can be for any amount, no matter how small – just give what you can afford. Please send a written request via the parish office with contact details.
We will be happy to receive any offerings directly by on-line banking or by standing order, which can be arranged through your bank, or by using the DONATE link here or on the parish website.

Do You Gift Aid?
The value of your donation can be increased by 25% at no extra cost to yourself, simply by gift aiding it if you are a taxpayer. The parish learns nothing about your private financial affairs. The average weekly collection between plate and standing orders, was approximately £2,400 a week (pre-COVID). If only half of that was GIFT AIDED, it would mean an extra £300 a week, or £15,600 a year to Parish funds. We are genuinely grateful to those who are Gift-Aiding. If you haven’t been doing so, please print off a Gift Aid form from the parish website. At the present time the parish income is down about £5,000 each month. Hopefully, when parish life returns to normal, we will soon see these financial worries and concerns disappear.
Please fill in the new gift aid online form or see the Parish office for a paper copy.

Thank you to everybody who continues to support the parish through the collection, standing orders, gift aid and dropping in contributions.
