We look forward to welcoming new members to the Ministry of Readers Rota and witnessing the growth of this essential ministry within our parish community. Last Thursday marked the revered feast of the Ascension, a pivotal event in Christian theology. Following ten days later is Pentecost, marking the culmination of the Easter season. The Ascension commemorates the return of the Risen Lord to Heaven, while Pentecost reminds us of the bestowal of His divine power through the Holy Spirit. In the readings for Ascension Day, we encounter a poignant question from two figures clad in white robes: "Why are you standing here looking into the sky?" This prompts reflection on our own purpose and mission. Meanwhile, in the Gospel, Jesus charges his disciples with a profound mandate: "Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News!" These words echo through the ages, urging us to actively engage in spreading the message of hope and redemption. The fifty days of Easter carry profound significance, encapsulating the journey from resurrection to ascension and culminating in the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. As we navigate this sacred season, let us heed the call to action, embracing the transformative power of faith and embodying the spirit of renewal and evangelisation. |
