Friday 9 October | 7.00pm | St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Soho. How can Catholics engage well with the media of our own age - without reducing the faith to headlines and soundbites? What can Newman’s remarkable life as a reader, writer and public Catholic voice teach us today about reading deeply, writing thoughtfully and engaging with today’s media, not for clicks or entertainment but for the sake of evangelisation? Join Br Alexander Bailey, CO for the Guild of Our Lady of Ransom’s first ever Newman Lecture, exploring how St John Henry Newman used the media of his day - from student journalism and the Tracts for the Times to novels, pamphlets and periodicals - to communicate, defend and deepen the faith.
Doors open at 7.00pm for refreshments; lecture begins at 7.30pm, followed by Q&A. St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Soho Square, London W1D 4NR.

Margaret sadly left us on Sept 24th to join her beloved John in the embrace of our Lord. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. We thank Canon Michael, Fr. Philip and St.Helier Hospital for her spiritual and physical care as she passed peacefully. Anne-Marie, Rosalyn, Andrew and the whole family have been overwhelmed with the messages, thoughts and prayers these past days, a source of genuine comfort and hope. We look forward to welcoming you all very soon to say a final goodbye and celebrate a life of true dedication.

You can now book your place at this year’s Day for Catechists. This year the gathering will be on Saturday 3 October 2026 and Archbishop John Wilson will be accompanying us. Matthew Harvey Sanders will deliver the keynote.
