As we enter into this sacred time of Holy Week, we are invited to reflect deeply on the profound mysteries of our faith. Each day of this week is rich in blessings and opportunities for spiritual growth, as we journey with Christ toward the Cross and ultimately to the Resurrection.
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, where we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, greeted by cheers and palm branches. This moment reminds us of the joy and hope that come with faith. Yet, as the week unfolds, we are called to witness the depths of His love and sacrifice.
On HOLY THURSDAY we will gather for the Mass of the Lord's Last Supper at 5 PM and 7 PM. Here, we commemorate the institution of the Eucharist and participate in the beautiful tradition of the Washing of Feet at our 7 p.m. Mass. This act of humility invites us to reflect on our call to serve one another, just as Jesus served His disciples. Following this, we will have the opportunity to watch with Jesus until 11 PM. This vigil reminds us of the importance of prayer and presence, echoing the call to stay awake and be alert to the movements of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
GOOD FRIDAY is a day of solemnity. We begin with the Children’s Station of the Cross at 10 AM, where our young ones learn about Christ's journey to Calvary. At 10:45, we offer the Sacrament of Confession, allowing us to cleanse our hearts and prepare ourselves to enter into the profound sorrow of Good Friday. SOME OF OUR PARISHIONERS WILL JOIN THE WALK OF WITNESS at 10.30 am. At 3 PM, we will gather for the Solemn Liturgy of the Passion, where we will meditate on the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us. The Divine Mercy Novena begins today, reminding us of God’s unfathomable mercy. Later that evening at 7 PM, our youth, confirmation candidates, and families will participate in a Service of ADORATION OF THE CROSS. It is a beautiful reminder that even in our darkest moments, we are never alone; Christ is with us, inviting us to draw near.
On HOLY SATURDAY, we will gather for the Easter Vigil at 7 PM. This is one of the most powerful liturgies of the year, where we will celebrate the light of Christ overcoming darkness, renew our baptismal promises, WELCOME OUR ELECT INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH and rejoice in the Resurrection.
Finally, on EASTER SUNDAY, we celebrate the joy of the Resurrection at 9 AM and again at 11 AM, led by Archbishop Kevin McDonald. This is the culmination of our Lenten journey, a time to rejoice in the victory of life over death, hope over despair.
I INVITE each of you to fully engage in these sacred moments throughout Holy Week. Whether it is through prayer, service, or participation in the liturgies, let us come together as a parish family to experience the fullness of God’s love and mercy.
Let us carry the spirit of Holy Week beyond this time and into our daily lives. May we allow the events of this week to transform our hearts and deepen our commitment to living out our faith.
Come and join us as we walk this sacred journey together.
Your brother in Christ,
Canon Michael
