WORLD COMMUNICATIONS DAY

Today’s second collection supports the work of the Catholic Communications Network (CCN), the media office of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales. The CCN seeks to be of service both to the Church and the world in offering professional channels of communication, and provides support for the Bishops of England and Wales and the wider Church in promoting the Gospel through the media on current issues. Its office is the focus for media enquiries on national matters, and seeks to develop the public profile of the Church and its teaching. The CCN provides up-to-date news releases, features and podcasts, information from the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, and trains spokesmen and women.

ROSARY FOR LIFE

Join Archbishop John in praying for life. Pray the rosary. Encounter Christ. Defend life. Rosary for Life. Archbishop John Wilson is calling on us to join him in praying the Rosary for Life this May (Month of Mary). Together, we will pray through the Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous Mysteries, each one offered for the most vulnerable facing growing threats to life: unborn children at risk of abortion, victims of war and persecution, people with disabilities, and the elderly. For video, audio and written versions of the Rosary for Life, visit rcaos.org.uk/rosaryforlife. Pray the Rosary. Encounter Christ. Defend life.
  • Joyful Mysteries (1 May – 9 May): pray for unborn children and an end to abortion
  • Sorrowful Mysteries (10 May – 16 May): pray for peace and for victims of war
  • Luminous Mysteries (17 May – 23 May): pray for people with disabilities
  • Glorious Mysteries (24 May – 30 May): pray for the elderly and vulnerable

VIGIL OF ST RITA, DAY OF FASTING FOR LIFE

DEMENTIA ACTION WEEK

It takes place 18th-24th May and will involve people taking action across the UK, from Memory Walks to Dementia Friends talks. Merton residents and organisations are all invited to get involved and take action, however big or small! CONFIRMATION

Last Sunday, 40 young parishioners were confirmed by Bishop Gerard Bradley here at St Teresa’s Parish. Please keep them and their families in your prayers as they celebrate receiving this very special Sacrament of the Holy Spirit.

Defend NHS staff conscience rights

Following the fall of the Leadbeater assisted suicide Bill, fresh bids to introduce an assisted dying law in England and Wales are anticipated. Any new law would likely pressure NHS staff to be involved in some way and offer even less protection to institutions like hospices. You can help protect healthcare workers and hospices by signing the Bios Centre online petition. It calls on Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, to protect conscientious objection rights for religious and personal beliefs. Sign the petition here.

CELEBRATE YOUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

The popular annual Marriage Mass will take place at St George's Cathedral on July 11 at 3pm. Couples celebrating special anniversaries this year - their first, 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th or any later anniversary - are invited to apply for places. They will then receive a personal invitation to the Mass from Abp John Wilson and have an opportunity to renew their marriage vows. Apply to: [email protected].

BUILD A BETTER MARRIAGE

This is a one-day marriage-enrichment event on May 23 aimed at couples whether married five years or 55 years. There is no charge and no group sharing. Couples have the opportunity individually to explore their relationship and levels of communication, which is the key to relationship. It starts at 9am and finishes by 4.30pm.The venue is St Elphege's, Wallington. More details – T: 07983 524 727 or E: [email protected].

SOUTHWARK DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES

I warmly invite you to join me on this year’s SOUTHWARK DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: 21 to 28 August 2026. A pilgrimage is a great opportunity to refresh and renew our relationship with the Lord Jesus, with the help of Our Lady’s prayers. I have also found it a blessing to be able to accompany and to be inspired by other pilgrims, some of whom are sick, elderly or disabled. Last year, Deacon John Fogarty and I did a short presentation in parishes, which we would be happy to repeat in your parish, if it can be arranged. Details for booking travel and accommodation can be found here.

We also ask pilgrims to complete a form with details, including medical requirements (if any) here. For more information, please contact Canon Edward Perera or Deacon John Fogarty or myself, Bishop Paul Hendricks.

We at Our Lady of the Rosary, Blackfen, Deanery of Bexley

We are organising a National Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Evangelisation to be held on Saturday 6th June, 9:30am–4pm. This conference aims to provide a broad and accessible understanding of AI. Its benefits, its challenges, and its growing role in daily life. As well as how AI can promote evangelisation in the Catholic Church. See notice in porch.

DIVINE MERCY PILGRIMAGE TO VILNIUS (18-35s)

We are organising a unique Divine Mercy Pilgrimage to Vilnius, Lithuania, taking place from 6–12 June 2026, for young adults. This pilgrimage, led by the Assumption Sisters Group, will be an uplifting time of prayer, community, and encounter with the message of Divine Mercy at its heart. Cost: £600 + travel. Register by 19th April, find more information here or email [email protected]. See poster in porch.

PLEASE HELP KEEP OUR CHURCH CAR PARK SAFE AND ACCESSIBLE

We kindly ask all parishioners NOT to double park in the church grounds, even for a short time. Double parking can block access for others (as it did last Sunday) and create difficulties for emergency access if ever needed. Many members of our congregation, including families, elderly visitors, and those with mobility needs, rely on clear and safe access at all times. If the car park is busy, please use nearby alternative parking where appropriate. Thank you for helping us keep our church welcoming, safe, and considerate for everyone.

STAYING IN ST HELIER HOSPITAL

Please remember if you or a member of your family is taken to hospital to ask the ward staff to inform the Roman Catholic Chaplain, Fr. Philip Pak or call him on 07477 545080. If Fr Philip knows you are in the hospital, he will ensure you receive a visit and Holy Communion if required.

Please pray for those who have passed away recently, especially Maria Landeira RIP. Her funeral will take place on Tuesday. We also remember Marina Dipre RIP, Carazon Dayrit RIP, and Seamus Purcell RIP (Fr John Mulligan’s brother-in-law). We pray for all the families and friends of the deceased at this time. We also remember those with anniversaries at this time, those on our Parish Sick List and those in care homes, or housebound.

Dear parishioners, please continue to remember the Sick Clergy of the diocese and send out your blessing in prayer to all the Nations of the World, as they do their best to combat the pandemic and natural disasters that many nations are battling with at this time. THANK YOU!

Sunday Collections and Donations

Picture
Last week's collection: £853.52. Thank you!
This week's second collection: World Communications Sunday.

We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the many of you who have kindly signed up to standing orders. This is so much appreciated and valued. If you wish to contribute by cheque in lieu of plate collections, this can be sent to the presbytery: St. Teresa’s Church, 250 Bishopsford Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 6BJ. They may be made payable to St. Teresa’s Catholic Church.

Our thanks to the families of Maureen Deb and Theresa Bearn for their generosity and thoughtfulness for the kind donation of £1,000 each in honour of the memory of Maureen and Theresa.
May God bless you and may their souls Rest In Peace and Rise In Glory.
Many thanks to those of you who have so kindly offered to set up standing orders in lieu of our Sunday plate collections. This is a most convenient method of planned giving (for all concerned); already used by so many at Morden – and is vitally important at this time. Regular standing orders can be for any amount, no matter how small – just give what you can afford. Please send a written request via the parish office with contact details.
We will be happy to receive any offerings directly by on-line banking or by standing order, which can be arranged through your bank, or by using the DONATE link here or on the parish website.

Do You Gift Aid?

The value of your donation can be increased by 25% at no extra cost to yourself, simply by gift aiding it if you are a taxpayer. The parish learns nothing about your private financial affairs. The average weekly collection between plate and standing orders, was approximately £2,400 a week (pre-COVID). If only half of that was GIFT AIDED, it would mean an extra £300 a week, or £15,600 a year to Parish funds. We are genuinely grateful to those who are Gift-Aiding. If you haven’t been doing so, please print off a Gift Aid form from the parish website. At the present time the parish income is down about £5,000 each month. Hopefully, when parish life returns to normal, we will soon see these financial worries and concerns disappear.

Please fill in the new gift aid online form or see the Parish office for a paper copy.

Thank you

Thank you to everybody who continues to support the parish through the collection, standing orders, gift aid and dropping in contributions. Online donations have seen an increase recently - A big THANK YOU FOR THOSE DONATIONS coming in via our parish website 'JUST GIVING' - Press the button marked DONATE. If you scroll down further, we also say 'Thanks' for your support and other ways you can support our parish. Again, THANK
YOU.

GIFT AID NOTICE

PLEASE COLLECT YOUR GIFT AID ENVELOPES FROM THE CONTACT CORNER
For those already signed up, Gift Aid Envelopes will be available during this weekend 3/4th April. Please collect your Gift Aid or Standing Order envelopes before or after Mass from the Contact Corner.
