I warmly invite you to join me on this year’s SOUTHWARK DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: 21 to 28 August 2026. A pilgrimage is a great opportunity to refresh and renew our relationship with the Lord Jesus, with the help of Our Lady’s prayers. I have also found it a blessing to be able to accompany and to be inspired by other pilgrims, some of whom are sick, elderly or disabled. Last year, Deacon John Fogarty and I did a short presentation in parishes, which we would be happy to repeat in your parish, if it can be arranged. Details for booking travel and accommodation can be found here.
We also ask pilgrims to complete a form with details, including medical requirements (if any) here. For more information, please contact Canon Edward Perera or Deacon John Fogarty or myself, Bishop Paul Hendricks. Our Big Lent Parish Walk takes place on Saturday 28th March. If you would like to join the walk we are meeting at 2.00 p.m. at Sutton Tennis Village. (Rose Hill Recreation Ground, Rose Hill, Sutton SM1 3HH). We will walk around the park there. If you would like to sponsor the walking team please click here. We have already raised £120.00! Thank you to our wonderful donors.
Thank you so much for your generous donations and prayers for our global family. We are still raising monies for this incredible work. By giving today we are enabling our global neighbours to grow food in gardens that float on flood water and we are providing solar powered irrigation systems.
The Scrutinies are a series of rites for adults who wish to be baptised. They are celebrated in the third, fourth, and fifth weeks of the Lenten season. This is considered a period of purification and enlightenment for the elect. There are prayers of exorcism which are intended to help purify the elect from sin and sinful desires. The overall prayers and laying on of hands are to help the elect be enlightened by the Word and grace of God. Please pray for all those who are to be received into the Church and receive the Sacraments this Easter. The 1st Scrutiny takes place next week at the 5.30pm Vigil Mass. Lent has started but have you thought about how you’ll practice fasting, almsgiving and prayer? We’re excited to tell you…you can do all three with the Big Lent Walk! Over the 40 days, you can walk where and when you like. Pray, give up your time and raise money for life-saving water. Why not join the special Lent challenge today. Sign up for the Big Lent Walk. Or team up with others in St. Teresa’s Parish. Visit our Just Giving page.
