Many of you have been in the parish for a long time. Your experience, loyalty, commitment and dedication to the community is enormously appreciated. Every parish community is made up of doers and thinkers. Both are needed to sustain the mission of the local church. Next year we celebrate the 80th anniversary of St Teresa’s parish in Morden. It will be an important moment to reflect on the past and plan ahead for the future. We are all part of the story now and the story after us will be different because of us.
Every year we welcome new people into the parish. If you have moved in recently, do please introduce yourself and complete acensus form at the Contact Corner. If you wish to get involved in any area of parish life, please also let us know. Don’t hide your gifts and talents under the benches. You need to come into the heart of the community and activate your ownership! Don’t forget our international evening on Saturday, 19th November. This will be an opportunity for everyone to share food, culture, custom and story.
We plan to have a special parish thank you supper for all our volunteers on Saturday, 8th October in St. Teresa’s School Hall. We will need some indication of numbers attending so please sign the list in the Narthex. This applies to all readers, church cleaners, musicians, special ministers, catechists, counters, collectors, flower arrangers, choir, singers, welcomers, repository people, PPC, finance, CHEQ etc. It’s a big network so it would be good to get the whole group together for a party. This is being organised by the PPC and if anyone else wants to help please contact Fr. John or a member of the PPC.
For the past number of months we have been using projectors for the hymns at the sung Masses each weekend. This has been a very useful development because we are running out of hymn books and also everyone is at least looking up while they are meant to be singing! Some people have commented that they can see the words on the wall better especially if they have left their glasses at home! The Parish Pastoral Council would be keen to know any further reactions to this or any improvements / amendments that would be helpful to everyone. Please inform anyone from the PPC – you will find them at the Contact Corner – or comments to Fr. John. Thank you.
Forgiveness does not change the past – but it does enlarge the future.
