Beyond the Cross
'Beyond the Cross' is a five-part art and culture series produced by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales. It follows on from 'At the Foot of the Cross', which considered four famous paintings telling the story of Christ's Passion and Resurrection.
'Beyond the Cross' follows the Risen Christ through the artist's eye taking in some of the main encounters of the season of Easter.
In the video below the viewer is asked to look at the empty tomb and take as inspiration the Swiss painter Eugene Burnand's 1898 work 'The Disciples Peter and John Running to the Sepulchre on the Morning of the Resurrection'.
