On the 17th of February, we will be at St George’s Cathedral, where the Archbishop will formally acknowledge their readiness and will call them to the Sacraments of Initiation. The candidates and catechumens will from then on be called the Elect. Please pray for the following candidates Devaka Fernando, Fredrik Magnusson, Georgette Miller, Hannington-Frank Tindyebwa, Michele Antony, Sherina Karayannopoolos and the following catechumens Cherry Hee, Lillie Clark, Ngoc Hugen Nguyen, Sophia Bowell and Tanyatorn Intarapapian as they prayerfully prepare for full communion with the Catholic Church.
On Saturday, 17th February 2024 we will celebrate the Rite of Election with our candidates and catechumens. The service marks the formal acceptance of people who have been on a journey of faith through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) programme. This year there 6 candidates, who have already been baptised into other Christian traditions and who will be confirmed and receive holy communion for the first time at the Easter Vigil in their parishes. There were also 5 catechumens, who have not previously been baptised and will receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and holy communion during their Vigil celebrations.
